The Emergency Nurses Association Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) is a two-day course designed to provide core level trauma knowledge and psychomotor skills associated with the delivery of professional nursing care to the trauma patient. Content is presented through lectures and skills stations.Participants will attend all lectures and skill stations for both days. 

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be issued an ENA TNCC card.  Expiration of verification occurs four years from the first day of the month in which the card was issued. Only registered nurses will be issued verification cards, however LVNs and paramedics may take the course for CEs. Attendees will be issued 17.65 CEs, however attendees will not be issued CE credit if they are more than 20 minutes late--no partial CEs will be issued.

Prerequisites and Preparation:

It is required that participants study the course manual, complete the online pre-course modules and pretest prior to the course to prepare for course participation. Upon registration, students will be mailed a copy of the Trauma Nursing Core Course Provider Manual 7th Edition which is included in the course fees. Directions for accessing the online pre-course modules and pretest will be emailed to students immediately after their registration. 

Snacks will be provided. Students will be responsible for their own lunch, there are various restaurants in close proximity to VTI.

What is ACLS- Provider?

This course is designed to teach lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader when responding to in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.  ACLS-P is a fifteen (15) hour, two-day program that provides training in a supportive, interactive environment. Case studies and videos are utilized so as to provide opportunities to integrate knowledge with practical skills.

 

This course does not teach ECG nor pharmacology information. The course covers extensive material in a short period of time and requires preparation.

 

Course Prerequisites

A current CPR Card (healthcare/professional) is strongly recommended but not required.  

A current (2015 Guideline) AHA ACLS Student Manual is required and must be brought to class. Please be aware that the student manual IS NOT included in the cost of this course. You may purchase a student manual in advance for $50 from vTI. Please call ahead to purchase and reserve a book as there is a limited supply and we cannot guarantee availability.   It is YOUR responsibility to see that you have the required manual for class .  The AHA will not allow students to participate in any AHA class without the required manual. The AHA also requires that you complete the online pre-test, and bring it with you to class.  YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN TO THE CLASS WITHOUT THE REQUIRED STUDENT MANUAL AND COPY OF PRE-COURSE SELF ASSESSMENT AND CHECKLIST RESULTS (70% or HIGHER).  PRINT RESULTS BEFORE CLOSING ASSESSMENT, OR YOU WILL HAVE TO RE-TAKE.  FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUIREMENT WILL RESULT IN A $75 RE-SCHEDULING FEE.

What is ACLS- Update?

What is BLS for Healthcare Providers?

BLS-HCP is a four (4) hour, one-day course that provides training in a supportive, interactive environment. Case studies and videos will be utilized to provide opportunities to integrate knowledge with practical skills. The course covers an extensive amount of material in a short period of time and requires preparation.

The BLS for Healthcare Providers Course covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction and automated external defibrillation. This course is intended for healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses and respiratory therapists who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course.

 

Course Prerequisites

Please be aware that the student manual IS NOT included in the cost of this courseAn AHA 2015 Guideline BLS Provider Manual is required and must be brought to class. The AHA will not allow you to particpate in the course without the required textbook.

Heartsaver CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. 


This course teaches infant, child, and adult CPR/AED use only.  It DOES NOT teach First Aid, and is intended for someone who has already received First Aid Training.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.

Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches infant, child, and adult CPR and AED use.

 

What is ITLS-Provider?

International Trauma Life Support is designed  especially for Paramedics and other advanced EMS providers. It is a comprehensive course covering skills necessary for rapid assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and transportation of trauma patients.

This sixteen (16) hour, two-day program provides training in a supportive, interactive environment. Case studies, videos and hands on practice are utilized to provide opportunities to integrate knowledge with practical skills.

Course Prerequisites:

AN ITLS manual is required and must be brought to class. This manual IS NOT included in the cost of tuition. 

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 2016, THE REQUIRED TEXT BOOK WILL BE ITLS 8th Edition.

What is ITLS- Refresher?

International Trauma Life Support is designed  especially for Paramedics and other advanced EMS providers. It is a comprehensive course covering skills necessary for rapid assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and transportation of trauma patients.

This eight (8) hour, one-day program provides training in a supportive, interactive environment. Case studies, videos and hands on practice are utilized to provide opportunities to integrate knowledge with practical skills.

 

Course Prerequisites:

An ITLS manual is required and must be brought to class. This manual IS NOT included in the cost of tuition. 

  • This is a mandatory requirement for ALL American College of Emergency Physician (ACEP) classes and you will not be allowed into the class without the required textbook.
  • We maintain a limited inventory in Petaluma however, we do not ship text books.
  • If you need to purchase a textbook from verihealth, please call us in order to do so. (You must pick up the book at 2190 S McDowell Blvd Petaluma, Ca before the day of your class)
  • There are a number of vendors selling them online for a range of prices if you do not have access to one otherwise.

 

What is PALS-Provider?

This course is designed to provide Pediatric Advanced Life Support training for experienced nurses, paramedics and other allied health professionals. Standards of care, established by the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics, will be utilized.

PALS-P is a sixteen (16) hour, two-day program that provides training in a supportive, interactive environment. NRP

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is an educational program jointly sponsored with the American Heart Association (AHA). The course has been designed to teach an evidence-based approach to resuscitation of the newborn to hospital staff who care for newborns at the time of delivery, including physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists. Since the inception of the NRP in 1987, over 3 million individuals in the United States and a countless number of individuals abroad have been trained in NRP. The 7th Edition, released in 2016, is based on simulation methodology, enhancing development of critical leadership, communication and team work skills.

The NRP has partnered with HealthStream to host the online exam that all providers must complete prior to attending an instructor-led course. There is an additional fee of $23.50 for the online course.

The EMT Verification of Skills Competency (VSC) session will satisfy the Title 22 requirement for EMT skills verification.  It is designed for the currently certified EMT to demonstrate skills competency in a scenario based setting.   It is VERY important that the skills sheets be reviewed and skills practiced prior to coming to the EMT VSC session.  Any questions can be directed to the vTI Training Coordinators via courses@veriheatlh.com.
