What is ACLS- Update?
This course is designed to teach lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader when responding to in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. ACLS-Update is a seven (7) hour, one-day program that provides training in a supportive, interactive environment. Case studies and videos are utilized so as to provide opportunities to integrate knowledge with practical skills.
This course does not teach algorithms, ECG or pharmacology information. The course covers extensive material in a short period of time and requires preparation.
A current CPR Card (healthcare/professional) is strongly recommended but not required. However, a current ACLS Provider card is required. A current (2015 Guideline) AHA ACLS Student Manual is required and must be brought to class. Please be aware that the student manual IS NOT included in the cost of this course. You may purchase a student manual in advance for $50 from vTI. Please call ahead to purchase and reserve a book as there is a limited supply and we cannot guarantee availability. It is YOUR responsibility to see that you have the required manual for class . The AHA will not allow students to participate in any AHA class without the required manual. The AHA also requires that you complete the online pre-test, and bring it with you to class. YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN TO THE CLASS WITHOUT THE REQUIRED STUDENT MANUAL AND COPY OF PRE-COURSE SELF ASSESSMENT AND CHECKLIST RESULTS (70& or HIGHER). PRINT RESULTS BEFORE CLOSING ASSESSMENT, OR YOU WILL HAVE TO RE-TAKE. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUIREMENT WILL RESULT IN A $75 RE-SCHEDULING FEE.
Participants can complete the Online BLS for Healthcare Providers course prior to class and be tested on BLS skills in class to receive a new BLS certification card that matches their ACLS certification expiration date. Order the Online BLS option to start on the online portion of the course immediately.
